WebM is the open video format used by OBS, many screen recorders and a lot of the web. Chrome, Edge and Firefox decode it natively, and recent Safari too, so GifCraft can turn it into a GIF without a server.

Transparent WebM
Some WebM files (VP9 with alpha, often used for stickers and overlays) carry transparency. GIF supports only on/off transparency per pixel, so soft edges become hard. If you need the background gone, use the background remover panel after loading.
Questions
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. GifCraft decodes and encodes everything inside your browser tab using the canvas and WebCodecs APIs. Your file never leaves your device, which is also why there is no sign-up and no watermark.
Safari won’t open my WebM
Safari 16.4+ supports VP9 WebM on most Macs; older versions do not. Use Chrome, Edge or Firefox for older setups.
