GIF splitter — extract frames

Break a GIF into its individual frames. Each frame is fully composited (GIFs often store only the changed pixels), so every PNG you download is a complete picture.

GIF splitter in three steps

  1. Drop the GIF.

  2. Browse the frames on the film strip; download one or all.

  3. Save the ZIP of PNGs.

Why naive frame extraction looks broken

To save space, many GIFs store only the rectangle that changed and tell the viewer what to do with the previous frame (the “disposal method”: keep it, clear it, or restore the one before). Extracting raw frames gives you fragments. GifCraft replays the disposal rules so each frame is exactly what you saw on screen.
