The short version: your files never leave your device.

Your files

Videos, GIFs and images you open in GifCraft are decoded, edited and encoded by JavaScript running in your browser tab. They are not uploaded, stored or seen by us. Closing the tab discards them.

AI features

Two optional features send text you type to a language or image model through Vercel AI Gateway: the caption-idea helper (your short description of the clip and the chosen tone) and the AI GIF generator (your prompt). Your files are never sent. We do not store these requests; a short-lived, in-memory counter of requests per IP address prevents abuse and is discarded when the server instance recycles.

Saved settings (localStorage)

To start your next GIF where you left off, GifCraft saves a few preferences in your browser’s localStorage: colour count, dithering, frame differencing, caption style, font, text size and colour, width and preset. Nothing else. They never leave your device.

Analytics

We use Ahrefs Web Analytics, a cookie-free analytics service, to count page views and see which tools are used. It does not use cookies or track you across sites.
